QUEST I
Rise of the Necromancer!

UPDATE!

What I said: Phew, the game's finally finished. It took AGES and was difficult at times,
but the result is rewarding. And if you want to jump straight into it, I
won't hold you up, just read the section on keys and their functions...

What I say now: Wow, I thought the original was good! With all the ways this humble company
has built this update up, this is quite impressive for such a small company. ENJOY!
And remember, this game couldn't have been without response from my gamers, so I NEED
feedback!

Updates in Update: Many! Ok, I fixed a lot of bugs, improved healing ability but only
allow you to heal 5 times per battle now, making battles challenging, a chance for an
enemy to pull of a special attack, the inclusion of potions, and a potion salesperson,
fantastically improved new graphics courtesy of my new graphic artist Ida(thanks!) :)
A new title screen, sound, music(in the credits), and a whole lot of stuff has been
fixed or revised to a brilliant level :)

Part 2: Story

In the scarcer areas of the proud kingdom of MiddleGarth, evil has started to appear.
Talking to townfolk will yeild a bit of information about one Necrolord: An incredibly
powerful necromancer who is raising a legion of all sorts of beasts. Fight through the
minions of him that include imps, goblins and minotaurs. Run away in brown trousered
terror of the skeletal lords. But one thing you know is that you need the civilians of
this town to complete this quest. Town healers, Eldars, and armourers will be happy to
help you. A woman living on the fringes of this society, Ann, has a hidden power...

Part 3: The battle works

These are the rules that operate the way the battles in Quest Update work. For now, we'll
call these the Quest rules edition 1.1

i. Health is a preset value for the player and enemies. When it reaches 0 or below,
the enemy or you die, unless you are carrying a potion. In which case, this uses up
the potion and restores you to full health. It is used automatically when your health
reaches 0 or below. You start the game with 1 potion.
ii. The damage enemies do is a preset value, but the damage you do increases every
ten battles and when you buy weapon advancements. Weapon damage + Base damage = damage.
iii. Healing removes as many points of damage as your first aid skill for every time
that it is used. You can not go over your maximum health points. You may heal 5 times in
one battle.
iv. Blocking makes the next enemy attack(if successful) do only 1 damage.
v. In a round, you always move first, then the enemy.
vi. Your chance to miss is governed by your accuracy ability, and that increases every
ten battles. It works thus; a random number is chosen from 1 to your accuracy whenever
you attack. If this number is 1, then you miss, otherwise, you make a successful attack.
This works the same way for enemies but their accuracy is always 5.
vii. Every successful battle gives you 1 more maximum hit point, and every ten successful
battles increase your accuracy, base damage(weapon damage is only increased by buying
upgrades), your first aid ability, and your magic ability.
viii. When you run away, a random number, similar to the process taken to decide whether
you hit or not, is chosen between 1 and your accuracy. If the number is 1, 2 or 3, you
fail your attempt to run away and it uses up your turn. If the number is otherwise, you
succeed in running away, but the enemy gets one last hit before the battle ends.
ix. If a battle is ended in the turn where an enemies last attack would kill you, you
go into negative health. If you can reach the healer's hut before your next battle,
you are revived from this near death state. Otherwise, you die as soon as entering battle.
x. Gold is rewarded after battle thus: for imp or goblin, 10 gold, for minotaur or grimward,
15 gold, for skeletal lord or ancient wyvern, 20 gold.
xi. In battles, there is a one in 8 chance of the enemy preparing to do a special attack.
What this means, is that unless you block on the next turn, the enemy will do his regular
attack damage plus another 7 damage. This carries over turns if the enemy misses(sometimes).
xii. The damage the special summoning ability does is now governed by your magic ability.
The damage done is equal to your magic ability. At health level 100 for instance, you will
do 35 damage. This attack may be used only once per battle.

Part 4: Hints you may need...

* Talk to all people regularly! You may even stop yourself from advancing if you do not.
* As soon as you have gold for a weapon upgrade, do so! There's nought else for your money!
* Save very often, especcially when you start facing wyverns and skeletal lords, as death
can come very suddenly.
*ALWAYS carry a potion when possible. Talk to everyone at least once per chapter.
*Don't stray too far from the healer's hut until you're happy with your ability to get away
from things.
